Mayor of Los Angeles since December 2022, the first woman to hold the office. Previously served six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives (2011-2022) and was Speaker of the California State Assembly. A physician assistant by training, she founded the Community Coalition in South L.A. before entering electoral politics.
